I cannot even count the number of people from whom I have heard this exact argument, in conversations & private emails.https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/i-cant-stand-trump-but-democrats-may-force-me-to-vote-for-him/2020/09/14/1cf10518-f6c4-11ea-a275-1a2c2d36e1f1_story.html …

It’s like they didn’t watch the primary. Joe Biden beat the people they are putatively complaining about.
-
They just want an excuse to vote for Trump. If Biden isn’t acceptable to them, then no Democratic nominee was ever going to be and they should just admit that they favor Trump.

All the leftists you're worried about supported Sanders (or Warren) and Biden won the nomination more or less explicitly on a platform of rejecting the left? And the left has been - not wrongly - super irritated with Biden this whole time?

I'm more alarmed about my own party's acceptance of Trumpism.

It would be interesting to do a brain scan of a person whose vote is driven by concerns about the «institutions and structures of government», looks at Trump and Biden, and says «Yup, Trump’s my guy».
-
Absolutely NOTHING has changed with “institutions and structures of governments” since Trump was voted in. Unless the targeting of the IRS to conservatives being stopped is one.

The problem with "don't worry, Harris will never be president" is that she's the running mate of a guy who'll be 78 by the time he's inaugurated.

Trump is destroying our institutions and structures of government, yet that doesn't seem to faze you in the slightest. He's breeding a culture of ignorance and divisiveness. That doesn't bother you. So no, I don't find that position persuasive in the least.
-
How do you feel about the Democrats already planing to go nuclear on the filibuster, after using it twice in the last few months to block debate on important bills? I don’t like Trump, even a little bit, but this “he’s destroying government norms” thing is hypocritical, at best.
