1/ And that's why, if "California Split" (Altman, 1974), it wd have to be into vertical Chile-shaped strips, NOT north and south, which wd merely be dominated by SF and LA respectively. WestCA wd be the bluest state in the country; EastCA would be solidly red, and Central CA....

2/assuming it included Sacramento but also some of the Mojave and some of the northern cattle country, wd be competitive. - Presumably WC wd retain its forestry policies and wd always be on fire, while CC and EC wd not. Also WC wd object to abbreviation "WC," but, pound sand.
