The only message that gets through in politics is winning or losing. The question is, how much losing must the GOP do to stem Trump-style populism? Just Trump's defeat? Something else?

I was very frustrated at the pre-Trump GOP. I cheered when Rubio beat Crist, Cruz over whoever his opponent was, when Bray dumped Cantor. But never did I want the party to fail. Neither did Reagan, nor Buckley. They fought within the party.

The party of Reagan is a historical artifact. A mere parable of a better time where facts, logic, & principles mattered. Not wilfully uninformed impulse & rancor.
