He's also wrong if he thinks repealing it would do anything. They passed it because states were already doing that, and they wanted to make it official, and they'd do the same now. The rest of his piece was great, though.

Many states did (see Oregon plan--echoes of today's EC interstate compact) but my understanding is that we were dangerously close to an Article V convention pushing for nationwide consistency and the existing Senate finally caved on the issue to avoid the unknown.

You may want to consider that currently we have a republic in name only. I am less concerned with the Republican Party or the conservative "movement" (both of which are now completely feckless) than I am with the health and welfare of our REPUBLIC.
