The constant challenge with Donald Trump is to remain aware of his manifest personal flaws, and avoid sliding into denial or amnesia - but not constantly obsess over telling people things everybody already knows about him.

Yes, Trump is a bad person unsuited to the presidency. Yes, that matters. No, it's not the only thing that matters.

The character of the chief executive is important. But to say it is the only thing that matters is to say that all public policies are identical. That is nonsense. https://twitter.com/trogdor8768/status/1303026335518994434 …

Yes, I always try to remind people: you cannot avert your eyes from who Trump is or what Ds are. You vote Trump, you accept an unfit man. Vote Biden, you choose policies & theories of governance that permanently damage the country & its institutions.https://twitter.com/Patterico/status/1303020237223149571 …

PattericoVerified account @PattericoI think a lot of people do the opposite; they ignore his atrocities because hey, what else do you expect from this guy? It perpetrates a numbness to statements and events people should not be numb to. (Example: "He encouraged people to vote twice? Oh, well, no surprise there...") https://twitter.com/baseballcrank/status/1303017784201351170 …21 replies 5 retweets 45 likesShow this thread -

Either voters are responsible for the whole package or they aren't. You can't plausibly argue that reluctant Trump voters aren't on the hook for his lying and outrageous actions, but all Biden voters are responsible for every judge he picks.

Either way, you own both. Still not sure if I could pull the trigger on Trump, but on the two biggest issues there are - the five-decade-long struggle to overturn Roe, & the survival of the American democratic rule-of-law system - the stakes are extraordinarily high.

I think Trump represents the greatest threat to the rule of law I have seen in my lifetime.

The greatest in my lifetime was William Brennan. And his influence remains pervasive.

I think I have done enough sparring on this issue. I want onlookers to understand that while you and I might disagree on this, I have nothing but the greatest personal respect for you. Sometimes people get the wrong idea from disagreement, so it's good to make that clear.

Same here. I got places to go. But this *is* an important argument, and there *is* more than one side to it.
