I’ll always prefer elected officials drawing lines than unelecteds. If the elected officials do a bad job you can vote them out, even if you don’t care for the lines. What do you do about the unelecteds? When unelected people have power over the process, you get Iran.

No they won’t. But really—why should that stop Rs from doing the right thing here? The states with commissions Eg, Iowa, work fine. These arguments are over there. Do you support that or not? You’re being cynical to avoid taking a position.

They won't do the right thing because most of the party has bought the Flight 93 stuff. They will be all-in on these rear-guard actions. NC and WI GOPs moved to take away Dem gov powers. In TX they want to put in electoral college system, etc.
