The conservative movement really could use the cleansing fire of a humiliating defeat. The hard question is how much of the country you're prepared to burn down to get that.

I’m willing to hand the executive branch to Democrats, but not the Senate. An answer that appears to upset everyone on this website. But as a libertarian, I’m used to my preference for divided government sparking the ire of partisans.

Exactly my position. I've been pro burn it all down this cycle at times, but divided government is my BFF right now.

On an emotional level, I would love nothing more than to burn the entire Republican Party to the ground and salt the earth. But that attitude will leave only the Trumpiest, deep red state politicians standing, and I don’t see how that ultimately helps anyone in the long run.
