Bingo. For many colleges the choices was open up for in person classes or risk folding altogether. Especially state schools that rely state funding and tuition (no endowment).

Someone should calculate the r value for size of endowment to whether classes are in person or remote. I bet, once all the data is in, there is a significant correlation.
