Lou Gehrig, BTW, went on to hit .307/.417/.455 in September/October 1938. He was 35. He would play only 8 more MLB games & hit 4 singles, in April 1939, before retiring due to the disease that bears his name & killed him.

Honestly surprised they lost 8 times.

Lou Gehrig was still hitting .329 in August 1938? That’s incredible- he had to be at least starting to suffer the effects of ALS right?
