100% correct. I’m a lawyer, but not the fancy variety, and of course expanding the Court will do just that.
Oh yeah! Then why have there been so many conservatives advocating for adding justices under GOP administrations? Oh wait...
Your opinion. Constitution disagrees with you.
I'm on record favoring a court-packing scheme that is based on three common sense reforms: 1) Increase size of court to 435 seats with one justice per congressional district. 2) Have voters elect justices 3) Limit judge's terms to two years
Agree. 9 unelected, life-tenured judges shouldn't be making decisions for 330 million Americans.
We literally had this debate in 1937. Some people seemingly won't accept the result as settled. Amazing.
Newsflash: The indepenence of the judiciary is already broken beyond repair. That's why SCOTUS should be expanded to at least 15 justices and the justices should be popularly elected.
Except no one is talking about expanding it because of a decision someone didn't like. They're talking about expanding it in general to have a more balanced court overall, one that actually represents the American people properly.
If by “at will” you mean by an act of Congress, signed into law by the President, as prescribed by the Constitution, sure. Which is also how the original # of justices was set, & how it was changed many times in the past, Dan.
