The Manhattan economy & lifestyle won't disappear, but there is no way it doesn't force a bunch of employers to rethink how much of their workforce needs a hyper-expensive Manhattan office space.

It does depend on your business. If you're doing high-volume stock trading, physical proximity to the exchange floor still matters.
