Sure. There's a long line of scholarship about Confederate centralization. What I find tendentious is the claim that the example of a rebel gov't that lasted 4 years and failed 150+ years ago exerted a meaningful influence on the development of the US gov't since then.

If you mean my argument - then wd only say that I don’t think Confederates were easily reconciled to defeat, emancipation and any democracy that was not exclusively for white men. In that sense they remained a meaningful influence.
