Nope, nope, nope. Not good, not legal. The rules are the rules. Also: begging abjectly is a bad look. This is not how a man who thinks he still has any chance to win talks. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1288818160389558273 …

If I was a Republican Senate candidate, I'd be very upset right now with Trump openly throwing in the towel on re-election.

Just as in 2000, 2004, & 2016, I will give no quarter to people claiming the 2020 election is rigged, stolen or illegitimate if they can't back it up with hard, verifiable proof.

We always knew, as with so many things, he was never going to do it, but might be dumb enough to say it.https://twitter.com/jimantle/status/1288848327077961730 …

For those tweeting at me about this April piece, what I wrote then remains true now: There is no mechanism by which Trump can unilaterally move, postpone or cancel the election and the expiration of his term is in the Constitution. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/hell-seize-power-hell-postpone-the-election-the-trump-schemes-that-never-happen …

As is so often true, the problem is that Trump is a frighteningly weak president, not a frighteningly strong tyrant.

Another way of looking at it is that he has the powers originally intended of the president.

This is rather silly, and suggests unfamiliarity with the conduct of despots and kleptocrats around the world. Those figures are always weak, incompetent, paranoid. It’s in fact a hallmark of the condition

But those men can usually impose their will on their subjects. Trump can’t even get a prosecutor fired when he orders it.

Yes, but Trump is a tyrant admirer. He wishes for those things that he can't have. And all the Trumpsters think the pro tyranny language is so hilarious!
