You can believe in the right to revolution without believing that it is at all times right to start a revolution.https://twitter.com/mjs_DC/status/1288123198932807684 …

I'm not quite sure how conservative opposition to civilian violence against federal police officers squares with their "insurrectionist" theory of the Second Amendment, which holds that civilians must bear arms so they can assassinate tyrannical officials. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2016/08/trumps-assassination-joke-is-the-logical-endpoint-for-the-gop.html …

So who decides when it is the right time to start a revolution?

It is always the challenge of revolutionaries to make the case on the merits that tyranny demands revolution. They were justified in 1775-76. They were not in 1861. They are not in 2020. History is long: the day may come, some day, when we need revolution again. Not today.

Since we’re using history, when someone without my pigmentation says “give me liberty or give me death” be it in 1776 or 1861, they were ultimately seen as Patriots. That history is constant. Not so when someone like me says it. That’s when folks are likepic.twitter.com/yvYxRCKr0M

"Groups of white people were never forcibly set down by the government" is a strange history of the Whiskey Rebellion, the Civil War, Waco, or really a whole lot of American history. It is not even remotely accurate.

And with the exception of Waco (at least in most circles) they were all called patriots. Hell I live in a state that to this day celebrates confederate day.

Everyone anywhere who takes a stand, no matter how wrong, has admirers. Be real. White Americans of all sorts have been on the wrong end of government force - draft rioters in 1863, Mormons in 1857, the Bonus Army in 1932, striking miners, gays, white supremacists, hippies, etc.

Ur stating something I never did. Plenty of white folks were “sat down” as you say. Standing for liberty isn’t relegated to Black or white. On that we agree. My point is that when the face is black or brown, the idea of that person being remembered as a patriot isn’t consistent.

As an example of this I can take many of the rebellions you mention above...whiskey included. There are monuments to those folks. Holidays even for some. Yet for the plethora of Black folks that stood against tyranny...you only have but one...and he’s pretty modern, MLK

I agree today is not the day for Revolution. But I also know the historical record...that when that day does come, without some demographic shift (which is happening) if those voice screaming for liberty are black and brown...they’ll mostly be ignored or deemed marxits.
