Dan, the Y axes show that Italy has been trending down while Florida has, with the exception of about 1 month's time, been trending up.

Why it matters: Italy had 2 months of 200+ deaths, Florida has had none. You would see the perspective if they were the same but that's not what Krugman is going for.
