Why complicate things? We know what the confederacy was and we also know we have had black soldiers. Why not honor the legacy of the black soldiers who knew when the bases were named that is was honoring a racist. Why delay in doing right?

Actually, the political movement to rename these bases began the very moment of their creation as the land was incorporated from Native people. In recent times, there was a push in 2014-15 coinciding with the birth of the Black Lives Matter movement.
