Reminder: when conservatives were trying to stop Donald Trump from getting the Republican nomination in 2016, Kasich stayed in the race to thwart that effort, refused to attack Trump on the debate stage, then dropped out the instant Ted Cruz left the race.https://twitter.com/TPM/status/1285199258648485890 …

Kasich has zero credibility to argue that Trump represents some sort of unique threat. All of his actions in 2016 were consistent with a guy who thought Cruz & Rubio were bigger dangers than Trump.

Go back & watch the GOP debates from February & March 2016, & see how often Kasich talks about Trump. Hint: very little.

And the people like John Weaver who were advising Kasich could have run a campaign aimed at stopping Trump. They didn't. Rubio told people to strategically vote Kasich in Ohio. Kasich refused to reciprocatehttps://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/03/11/kasich-wont-return-rubios-favor-in-florida/ …

Kasich stayed in the race after finishing behind Ben Carson 10 times in 15 tries, just to prevent the opposition to Trump from uniting https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/04/never-trumpers-should-not-support-unserious-challengers/ …pic.twitter.com/BPedwQOm6p

I was noting Kasich's refusal to attack Trump in debates at the time. No courage when it counted.https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/john-kasich-defending-donald-trump-gop-debate-detroit-fox/ …

One could argue that the enabling behaviors of both Marco and Ted, might in fact be consistent with people who are pretty damn big dangers.

Ted Cruz as the 2016 GOP candidate is an interesting exercise in theory! How would things look now?

No, it means he underestimated Trump's chances of winning the Republican nomination in 2016.
