The old line from the 70s was that conservatives were liberals who had been mugged. One wonder what it will take for today's progressives to experience the consequences of their own policies.

I know that I for one have moved around on trade and private-sector union issues in large part because I found over time that the positions I'd grandfathered myself into didn't match with the reality I was seeing on the ground. Can't speak for Dan, but that was a real evolution.

So is it your view that non conservatives do not ever implement altruistic policies? And that, furthermore, only conservatives change policies in response to changes conditions?
