I see we are in the "actually, there's no political movement to defund the police" segment of the news cycle.https://twitter.com/PhilipRucker/status/1284843377939406849 …

Chris Wallace cut away from Trump claims to narrate: “The White House never sent us evidence the Bernie-Biden platform calls for defunding or abolishing the police — because there is none.”

No. Your summary here is off the point. It’s not complicated at all. Trump lied that Biden supports “defund the police.” He explicitly does not—he has said so. He also implicitly does not—it is not in his policy prospectus. Wallace called Trump on his lie and exposed it. The end.

Moreover, Trunp claimed specifically that this policy is in Biden’s prospectus. He brought out the prospectus to find the passage. He could not because it does not exist. And you’re criticizing Wallace here? For what? Watching Trump step on a rake?

The step you're missing here is that a GOP presidential campaign would not be able to defend itself from what its base is chanting for in the streets by saying "hey we don't have that written in the platform."

What the hell does that have to do right or wrong—with what just happened in the interview?!! A Fox journalist called out Trump because Trump was flatly lying about his political opponent. That reflects badly on Trump and nobody else.

We both know that is not why people are trumpeting this. Trump being a liar is barely even newsworthy by now.

Wrong. It’s not that Trump is a liar—that’s not what is newsworthy. What’s newsworthy is that he was called on it by a major journalist on his favorite network, no less. Yes, he lies all the time. But nobody gets a chance to expose him with a document in real time.

How do you come up with these convoluted takes? How about the not at all radical or even liberal, “Trump is a demagogic, grotesque liar and an excellent but simply calm and prepared non liberal journalist just exposed him for the world to see. Good.”

So, you've just become completely desensitized to the terrible things he's done, and excuse them as a common pattern of behaviour? And you don't see anything wrong with that?
