3. The Shelby County decision remains controversial bc it is debatable whether Congress' decision should be judicially reviewable. But there is really no dispute that Roberts was right that Congress simply failed to consider whether conditions had changed anywhere in 4 decades.

What’s more, they were advised that if they didn’t update the formula it would be struck down, but they ignored that advice rather than fix it, I suspect because people didn’t like what the new map would look like.

Real talk. Look at what happened in pre-clearance states immediately after the decision. Robert’s has been proven emphatically wrong. 2. This is quite a poor tautology, they have to create a new formula because of the ruling, that they created one does not prove Robert’s right.
