Well, the lineage is unmistakable here. The thing I love most about AIRPLANE! (other than the sheer volume of jokes) is how every character in the film, other than Johnny, has no idea s/he's in a comedy.

I often bore people with this comparison of Police Squad and Top Gun. Both had a gag where Leslie Neilsen narrates that he went to Little Italy. The joke is that the Parthenon and the Leaning Tower of Pisa are in the background. 1/3
