It was really weird to watch " Zero Hour!" (an awful movie) after watching "Airplane!" ( a brilliant movie) several times.

That leads into the one subtle joke in Airplane! Whenever there’s an exterior shot of the plane, the engine noise you hear is of a prop, not a jet, and is in fact the engine noise from the Zero Hour soundtrack.
