You still haven't answered my question about whether, if you thought tearing down all the statues would make things worse, you'd support it anyway. I assume yes.

“Make things worse.” So in other words, so that you will be exposed yet again: 155 years after the Union Army, Lincoln and the slaves themselves defeated brutal, slaveholding traitors, it would not “make things better” (um, for whom?) to remove the memorials that generations of

You're hiding behind the progressive dodge: there are never tradeoffs. Nothing you want has costs. You can't even conceive of the problem.

Yes—offending the tender sensibilities of white Southerners generations after the war ended is very much worth it to restore a tiny measure of justice and *respect* to black Americans. Not a hard question at all. But for you it is. A really tough question.

And btw—it’s absurd and offensive to think that I don’t calculate costs. Everybody calculate costs. The question is costs for *whom*? And how much? Who rides whom and how? You want to sustain costs on black Americans who have born far too much already. Own that.

My argument is simple. You persuade people of things better by promoting a positive vision & getting their buy-in than by naked aggression & visible destruction. You either think the latter is effective, or you don't care about changing minds.

Naked aggression. Was it not naked aggression when Stone Mountain was built in the first place? Were black Americans in the South—subject to violence and exploitation for generations—asked for their opinion?

OK, I have stuff to write, I'm not going to keep going all night with you refusing to even listen to the point I'm making, let alone address it.

I’ve addressed it over and over again. Justice and decency should be done for black Americans. White Southerners enacted most of these obscenities to defend JimCrow. They have no moral standing. Justice is more important their feelings. Something you often lecture about.

And you lack standing too. Which is where we began. You can’t make the most obvious moral and historical distinctions. You horrifically imply that the moral ledger between white Southerners and black Americans is equal. That’s revolting. You have no answer when I ask you to think

Now you're just lying, and you know it. I've been quite clear in distinctions about the past. In discussing opinions, I'm talking about the future, not the past. Yet, you refuse to consider the future.

No, I’m not lying Dan. You’re the liar—you know I harshly criticized those other statues. It wasn’t hard. But you can’t offend racist conservatives for a even a second. You’re pathetic. Talking about future! Is that why you were so angry about how history is being interpreted?

I have not seen a single thing from you criticizing the assaults on Union or Founding statues. If I missed that, I apologize. Again, I'm trying to get other things done tonight. Please cease mischaracterizing my position just to get attention. I'd have expected better of you.
