Well, the Emancipation Proclamation did only free southern slaves. It didn't free slaves of the Union states, so there's that.

As I tweeted here a few times, I think this is a very bad move. But conservatives who won’t support eliminating confederate memorials and army bases named for confederates, ie, who won’t make any clear demarcations, have no standing on the issue of defending Lincoln.
