That's my point. It's cancel culture, but an acceptable manifestation of it to many. Personally, I'm ok with a modest cancel culture for cases like buildings named for Pitchfork Ben Tillman or Nathan Bedford Forest busts. But I'd demand a high threshold.

As I’ve understood it “cancel culture” essentially refers to witch hunts against living people. Euphemistically one might apply it to the dead, but I think that confuses the debate.
