He's wrong. Race is a thing separate from ethnicity. The word race was sometimes used historically of both races (groups based on biological visual features) and ethnicities (groups based on nationality or culture), but the two are still distinct concepts.

First sentence not true if you look at "race" as ancestral population groups, like renowned ancient-DNA geneticist David Reich does. The genes match the self-ID an incredibly high percentage of the time. And in fact DNA ancestry tests can discern French, Polish, etc. ancestry.
