Most guys trade speed for power as they age. Lou Brock went the other way, became a more traditional leadoff man in his mid-30s. Undoubtedly due in part to different playing conditions, a different lineup behind him.

terrific player for a few years, good not great player for the last 10 yrs of his career...struck out way too much...poor defender....his WAR of around 40 is actually pretty accurate

Brock was the reason I became a Cardinals fan.

I loved Lou Brock so much as a kid I traded a mint 1967 Yaz card for a 1971 Brock card. Found out later Yaz was worth 7 times as much, but no regrets. :-)

It is great to hear the reaction at Busch Stadium when he’s there. Many of the people in the stands, including me, never got to see him play. But he is still beloved in STL.
