Our system is designed to require majorities to work within the system, not just tell the courts that they represent the national will. Virtually every government policy creates reliance interests. If that alone excuses breaking the law, we are no longer a nation of laws.
Oh I’m not saying the survey majority has an absolute justification here. Just pointing out that you conflated Trump’s general anti immigrant policy—which many voters apparently support—with anti-DACA—which far fewer do.
As for reliance interest, it is, as you know, a commonplace of the law. And, in this case, it might be said that the law is not twisted to view those facts with generosity. But, again, to my point, *anybody* is a poorly chosen word. No—its 700k people making a contribution to the
