No figure in American history is more important to modern progressivism - its theories of governance, its intellectual stylings, its migration into the Democratic Party since 1912 - than Woodrow Wilson.https://twitter.com/janecoaston/status/1271462458658603008 …

This is just it: 1.) This is a clear proxy issue, a thing-adjacent fight 2.) Folks seem to think that many people are emotionally tied to the memories of Woodrow “I was a godawful president” Wilson and Robert Byrd then they actually are. https://twitter.com/swin24/status/1271460862591750151 …

If we're going to do this; Asian Americans should march on every building, road, school, and bridge named after FDR. (And Jews should probably be marching with them.)

This is warmed-over Glenn Beck level history, meant to muddy up the progressivism of Teddy Roosevelt, the New Deal, the civil rights movement, and the overall rise of the bureaucratic nation-state here and in Europe, all to cast a effete, Ivy-league villain for conservative faps.

Congratulations to the Democratic Party, but Woodrow Wilson sucked.

Indeed he did. And the reasons why he was terrible were deeply intertwined with his project to give power to an unelected administrative state & create a malleable "living constitution."

The modern administrative state is a Wilsonian creation; Republican presidential victories in the 20’s just delayed it’s full peacetime implementation for a decade & a half

If they weren't tied to Wilson and Byrd, why didn't they take the statues down while they were taking down the statues of other racists?
