Imagine any other national Dem, ie, any governor or senator. You can have your pick. So doesn’t have to be a guy in his late seventies. But Trump is still running for a second term. Based on what you said, you’re going to vote for Trump, right? Despite, well, everything.

I have not decided yet. Won't until I see the running mate, who will almost certainly be running the new administration in short order. It's not an easy call. But I'm not voting D.

But suppose, for the sake of argument, Joe Manchin was the Dem nominee vs Trump. He’s not an old befuddled guy. Would you vote for him?

It’s hard for me to think of a Democrat I’d actually vote for. Maybe this guy. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/09/nyregion/ruben-diaz-bronx-congress.html …

He sounds truly horrible. But my point wasn’t to really hunt for an “acceptable” Dem. Not yr world view. Just to accent that Trump is mentally ill.Every Republican would do all the things I hate—but they would have run the standard protocol when briefed on a possible pandemic.

We certainly would have been better off in January with a President DeWine. Or even - dare I say it? - President Cotton.pic.twitter.com/4iH4fjCrom

Well yeah—there are a lot of politicians, a few of rare skill, a few of great human decency, and a lot who are mediocre or plain stupid. Very few tho would reject bad news because they refuse to process it and would then rely on their idiot son in law to be their James Baker.

We became inured to the fact this is a severely mentally ill human being because he has *so many* other deficiencies and no good values. He’s a feral skil as a self marketers, but no good qualities at all. That raises the stakes a lot.

My language failed me above. But on the grounds of racism alone—and then we leave Tj the side everything else fur now—Trump is disqualified. Dan and other conservatives like to justly attack Wilson for his racism. That was over a century ago. If *today* you vote for Trump, the

criticism of Wilson is exposed for what I think it mostly is—partisan (a shot at a venerated Dem President) and libertarian (a criticism of his proto administrative state.) The racism attack v WW rings hollow, surely if you don’t fight its current iteration in the GOP.

You really have to stretch to turn Trump into the guy who segregated the entire federal government.

This answer really disappoints me, Dan because it either disrespects me or disrespects yourself. You’re not a trained historian, but you have read a lot of history and, I assume, thinks, historically, which means understanding change over time. So no, *of course* Trump didn’t do

that. He also doesn’t own slaves or tweet his support for the Colefax Massacre. It’s not even a big deal that he has a black cabinet officer. No—**in the context of today, 2020**, Trump is a racist, not be the standards of the early 20th century. And, given today’s standards, you
