At this point, the people who insist on honoring the confederacy are the malicious ones.

Not even just the south. You can find that shit-rag in every state in the Union. The only one worth a damn is the one Wisconsin keeps as a war-trophy from Gettysburg. https://www.wisconsinhistory.org/Records/Image/IM70827 …

It wouldn't have been malice if they weren't built in the first place. Such a lazy argument.

Tearing them down isn't malice. Putting them up in the first place was.

I sometimes sit and wonder what would be different if Lincoln and Kennedy had not been killed. Reconstruction done by "Letting them up easy". What happens to Native People? No Vietnam? No '68 riots. Bobby Kennedy not killed? Does Dr King live? Maybe no Nixon? None of This?

"With malice towards any who oppose us, with charity for only those who agree" appears to be the attitude of today's liberals &
#Democrat party. They're dividing our country for political gain, socialism being their goal.#MAGA#Trump2020Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Do you know if there was any opposition to the memorials from Union veterans?
-
I'm not sure you can generalize completely, but there were certainly many leading Union generals who were fine with letting the South have its own memorials.

This plays into falsehood of heritage movement. These statues were erected not by the entire community. Blacks couldn't vote. White Mayors/City Councils imposed these statues. No full debate. Black community had no say.If they're "heritage" and history put them to community vote
