Has de Blasio, the COVID overreach, and the riots/looting damaged liberalism? I can't imagine he'd seek another term but would NYers consider a more moderate candidate? Also, if de Blasio resigns, does that embolden criticism of Trump in the hopes that he would follow suit?

There was already a more moderate candidate in 2017, but she didn’t have the name recognition (as well as hailing from the city’s unenlightened backwater of Staten Island). He certainly didn’t get re-elected then because of the fabulous job he was doing.

As a NYCer, de Blasio seems to be universally reviled. I have never had a conversation with any NYCer who volunteered anything positive about him. Plenty of negative comments. Amazing that he ran virtually unopposed. Twice. Police loathe him.
