So, to summarize, we have the cops fired & denounced by every level of govt & investigated by FBI within a day. Arrest by the end of the week. This is, by the standards of American justice, an astoundingly rapid response. But hey, maybe there are still TVs left at Target.https://twitter.com/jennfranconews/status/1266418475863425024 …

I don’t know the laws in every state, but I believe the laws are the same for justifying deadly force for civilians and cops in almost every jurisdiction. As to the second point, I agree and that’s wrong. The reason for all this upheaval is that cops get special treatment.

This is a very lazy analysis. LE have a right to arrest people and forcibly detain them if they resist arrest. Citizens cannot do this. Obviously in this context that creates an enormous difference in trying to decide if the force used was criminal or not.

In what circumstances are cops authorized to kill but not private citizens? They're only authorized to kill if it's the only way to neutralize an imminent threat to someone's life. Are there private citizens in jail for that?

I'm beginning to think our problem is not that cops are authorized to use force, it's that they are often eager to do so, casual about doing it, motivated by racial stereotypes, and lack the judgment needed to avoid jumping to conclusions.

A cop isn’t a flight risk? That’s quite a take.
