Public protest can be ugly, uncomfortable, & done for bad causes, but it is an essential part of America. Riots, arson, & looting, however, are just bad. As I wrote in 2014, don't try to justify them if you're not willing to embrace what that entails:https://thefederalist.com/2014/12/08/the-ferguson-riots-are-nothing-like-the-original-tea-party-protests/ …

Our country was founded on the idea that there's a time & place when armed revolution is justified. But the bar for burning it all down is a high one. If you're not making the case for it, don't try to excuse political violence (let alone politics as an excuse for looting).

From what I can tell, the police started the violence. And I hope the protestors will make it the last time the police does so.

Flashback: NYPost- Armed Demonstrators Storm Michigan Statehouse The headline infers that protesters took control of the building and held hostages in armed conflict. Buildings set ablaze 0, people shot 0, people killed 0, looters 0... I believe there wasn't a single arrest.

Yes, they also didn't "storm"...they had too submit to temp checks & health questions before being allowed in the bldg.
