As I noted in my piece, nearly 100% of the differential is driven by the NY Tri-state area. Outside NY/NJ/CT, US rate is just about even with Canada. 10 European countries, including UK & France, are above us. 38 states are below the per capita rate for the European continent.https://twitter.com/DavidCornDC/status/1265333413281751045 …

I'm in favor of more breakdowns by wider & narrower regions. My point is that (1) the data has a *lot* of variables in it, & (2) the NY metro area has been hit *vastly* worse than the rest of the UShttps://twitter.com/williamjordann/status/1265341073120989184 …

Glad to see Czechia called Czechia now. “Czech Republic” was always a bad English name.

These numbers are not comparable. Each country has different policies for how it reports covid-19 deaths. For example, why are Belgium's numbers so high? They include suspected (but not lab confirmed) deaths: https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/04/22/841005901/why-belgiums-death-rate-is-so-high-it-counts-lots-of-suspected-covid-19-cases …, whereas only some states in the US do.

Moreover, many of the most severely hit European countries (Spain and Italy, France to a lesser extent) have suppressed covid-19 to low levels now, whereas the US has not, so the US is going to keep moving up this list as time passes.

So in Deaths/Million there are only 22 countries worse than us in the whole world....

did you drop the cases from the comparative countries from their most heavily impacted area, and THEN making a comparison? i mean, what point are you trying to make if not? you're not cherry picking data, you're turd picking. taking our worst out to make us look good

Considering the size/Pop. of our country and the states sovereignty, USA is one of the hardest places to manage. Yet we are doing incredibly well, and ahead of many leading countries. Always room to enhance, sure, but we should be proud!
@realDonaldTrump -
You can’t remove the most populous areas from US data, while leaving them in for Canadian and European data, and then say “we stack up well”. It’s false. It’s an outright lie.

You should be honest, you did not run the numbers you manipulated the numbers. If you can take out the hot-spot of the Tri-State region than take out same for Canada 166/M for the US & 11/M for Canada. Now do the same with each European country.
