If an intern called the Russian Embassy the FBI should be involved. Flynn knew this and it’s why he lied.https://twitter.com/minimeadow/status/1260657796942401538 …
This is Logan Act theory: even a presidential candidate or president-elect can be prosecuted for speaking to a foreign ambassador. If you take that theory, embrace its extreme conclusions. Back in the real world, the whole point of the convo was Flynn being incoming NSA.

Back in the real world, he should've acted in concert with the current administration. It's a "transition," not a hostile takeover. How is notifying the FBI a problem here?

It was for counterintelligence purposes. We were in the process of retaliating against Russia for their attack on us. Flynn was secretly trying to undermine our retaliation against Russia. It would have been malpractice if counterintelligence officials didn't ask some questions.

Back in the real world, Flynn was a private citizen talking to the Russian ambassador in the middle of a diplomatic crisis. The US government had every right to know who he was. Or Flynn, could have gone the Kushner route and set up a backchannel in the Russian Embassy

You can also be prosecuted if you lie to the FBI when the come calling. And the prosecution is real easy when you plead guilty.
