It's always fair game to criticize what Trump says, but if Obama does X and Trump says "Obama did X, Y, & Z," and you knock down Y & Z to prove Obama didn't do X, that's skipping a rather important step.https://twitter.com/Timodc/status/1260353918120235013 …

Harsanyi accuses my #obamagate explainer of “gaslighting the public by focusing on the most feverish accusations against Obama.” Does not mention that the feverish accusations are being levied by the President of the United States, not randos on Twitter. https://thebulwark.com/taking-obamagate-seriously/ … pic.twitter.com/1usjogPZjS

What if Y and Z are crimes worse than watergate and X is not something Obama has been proven to have done? Even harsanyi concedes in the article “None of this means that Obama committed some specific crime; he almost assuredly did not.”

I pointed that out to Harsanyi, and his response was to say that Obama DID commit a crime. Consistency is not National Review's forte.https://twitter.com/davidharsanyi/status/1260556084437299202 …

Yes. His crime is a unprecedented abuse of power. Which is why you lifted that line without the ones around it.

Focusing on legality is not the point. Obama's administration sabotaged the peaceful transfer of power. Instead of condemning it he's endorsed it. What happened was a crime against our country and - big surprise - the "norms" crowd could care less.

I always ask my liberal friends if they truly believe what Obama did was perfectly fine then they should have no trouble with Trump doing it, they never say yes.
