"Opening investigations into the the principals of national security organizations for talking to ambassadors is something the FBI does all the time" is an interesting observation. https://twitter.com/AshaRangappa_/status/1259327710406627329 …

Did the FBI have a legally arguable basis to interview Flynn in January 2017? Sure. That's not my point or my argument. But it was clearly a stretch, a pretext. It's the long chain of stretches that makes the case for prosecuting him so flimsy when you consider it as a whole.

Flynn getting fired as a result of all this was, in my view, a fair outcome. But I question whether it is really the job of the FBI to get people fired.

Flynn wasn't fired for lying to the FBI, he was fired for lying to Pence who had already seen a transcript of the conversation. Pence said so on national TV.

Flynn had no reason to lie to Pence about the conversation.

Employees exercising their ability to fire their own boss before he starts at the position is an occupational model only "government" could make a reality.

Are you sure you're putting this in context of Russia if you're listening, Wikileaks, hacked e-mails, Trump tower "adoption" meetings, Turkish extraditions, dropping Russian sanctions, etc...?

As long as everyone stays consistent if they ever get around to indicting McCabe. If prosecuting Flynn for lying about interactions with a foreign govt was unjust, a prosecution for misstating your involvement in a press leak can’t be applauded.

This is a hear no evil, see no evil take. FBI ignored Hillary Clinton’s criminality and opened “investigations” into Trump’s National Security Advisor and Attorney General. That is - without qualification - unacceptable. “Flynn fired a fair outcome” excuses the inexcusable.

Flynn’s firing was a “fair outcome”? Odd for all the moral condemnations of Donald Trump, there isn’t the moral clarity to wholeheartedly say what Obama’s FBI did to Flynn and Sessions was wrong.
