Gotta love Jesse, who pitched in more MLB games (1,252) than anyone in history, had an ERA+ of 120+ in 16 different seasons. I remember all the way back to when the Mets got him for Jerry Koosman.https://twitter.com/BSmile/status/1252603286064173056 …

Any doubt he could pitch 35 innings of release this year?

Orosco was amazing. He could pitch multiple innings and often did. In Game 6 of the 1986 NLCS vs. Houston, he pitched the last 3 innings. I just looked it up - McDowell pitched 5.

That 5-inning McDowell stint was tremendous & crucial & probably part of why he was never the same pitcher after 1986.

I also remember when he was with the Dodgers in '88 and the highlight of his season was putting eyeblack in Gibson's hat and he absolutely lost it. Many point to that moment as the time it became Gibby's team.
