Halting immigration is not in general a good idea, but so long as we're paying millions of people not to work, threatening citizens who move around in public, & closing schools, churches, & routine doctor visits, I don't see a lot of downside to a temporary pause in this, too.

The U.S. response on the border has been incredibly weak by world standards. Aus/NZ and most of Europe shut theirs to all but citizens weeks ago.
