There continues to be big divide between UK and USA stardom for rockers. Bands like The Libertines, The Jam, Stereophics, or Supergrass are legendary in the UK but barely made a mark in the USA. Not Beatles big, but still a big discrepency.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were only a modest success as mainstream artists, but I remember them playing the pizza cellar, which is a ways from being on MTV. cc
