There is a more-than-decent shot that everybody ends up pursuing the Swedish option, and the only question is whether it was worth locking down until spring/summer to give health facilities and scientists time, and the virus a chance to die in warmer weather.

Well, we’ll see what happens with Brazil and Nicaragua.

Why not Panama or Costa Rica? Why do you single out some of the least effective countries? Chile and Argentina for example are right next to each other. Look at the diference. Ecuador and Colombia, same thing.

Winter is coming soon, and I am worried about South Africa, Argentina, Chile, NZ, and Australia coming out of their lockdowns right as Fall is ending down there.
-
We won’t though. We’ve been told we’ll be in isolation for 6 months here in Aus. Why would we relax the lockdowns if it spikes a spread in cases?

Low population density and low mass transit usage. It’s like it’s science or something.

Hot weather helps (see Australia) but the outbreak in Ecuador shows the limits of how much it helps....
-
We took decisive action, very early on to mitigate the spread. We have one of the lowest population densities of any country in the world. And a world class health system. Australia is not the example of warm weather being advantageous that you may think it is.
