Been thinking a lot today (for no reason) about how absolutely atrocious Eric Clapton's 1980s singles are. "I've Got a Rock 'n' Roll Heart," "Forever Man," "She's Waiting," "Pretending," "No Alibis," "Bad Love". Blech.

What artist was consistently great in their third decade of recording? Some of Clapton's 80's music isn't great, but there are some gems too.

As someone else suggested, I'd say Winwood, for sure, was far better in the decade.
