Both the "shutdowns are unnecessary" crowd & the "we'd have no coronavirus without Trump" crowd pay far too little attention to how hard the virus has hit a broad variety of foreign nations with different political systems, cultures, demographics, & responses to the crisis.

Well it’s getting to be the same thing. Because there is zero plan in place to get going. The reality is there won’t be a vaccine for a while therefore it won’t be eradicated for a while. It can’t stay in lockdown that long. That’s our point

"Zero plan in place to get going ..." What exactly do you mean by this? Because there are at least several detailed, goals-based papers & articles 'out there' proposing how and when to start lifting mitigation measures, such as shelter-in-place & non-essential business closures.

Also there's a huge difference between "we can't live like this forever" and "lets go kill grandma". People reducing these things to false dichotomies all over.

Everyone knows we can’t live like this indefinitely. It’s a “yeah, no shit” point of view. Question is about how we get to the other side the fastest, safest way possible. Trump is impulsive and the doing this the wrong way will hurt everyone medically and financially.

Theres quite a few epidemiologists (stanford) that have questioned the lockdowns from the beginning. It's not like the shutdowns are proven science.

It seems that we have shut things down based primarily on a computer model that so far has vastly overestimated what our hospital and ICU usage requirements would have been by now. I get that we are still early into the model, but still.
