The combination of NYC's unique density & transit patterns, its sluggish response to the crisis in March, & the outbreak in Westchester has, predictably, led to community spread throughout the surrounding area.https://twitter.com/Tom_Winter/status/1246459989964853256 …

The Chinatown parts of Queens are part of the story, but this ignores the fact that infection rates are higher in parts of Brooklyn, Harlem, & Staten Island than in heavily Asian Flushing. If you walk around the NY area, Asian-Americans were much earlier to adopt facemasks.https://twitter.com/julie_kelly2/status/1246417625586053120 …

Julie Kelly 🇺🇸 @julie_kelly2If most of the victims are people here from infected regions, especially China, who live, as one NY state senator from Queens said, “on top of each other,” how does that portend doom for Iowa or Arizona or Georgia? https://amgreatness.com/2020/04/03/why-is-queens-the-hotspot-of-hotspots-in-the-nations-coronavirus-crisis/ …Show this thread4 replies 3 retweets 21 likesShow this thread -

The point of the article is to document the possible origins of the outbreak in NYC and how people returning to Queens (per Jan 2020 NYT article) were alarmed about situation in Wuhan while NYC officials urged calm

Then, it should have been framed as a January question.

Feel free to share your research and attempt to explain why one area - Elmhurst/Corona—has been hard hit and why Elmhurst Hospital is caring for the epicenter of the outbreak (NYC health officials description, not mine). Not sure what you’re arguing here.

Corona/Elmhurst has been the worst, but "one area...has been hard hit" is not accurate. Williamsburg & Borough Park are not heavily Chinese areas. Neither is the Bronx https://www.wsj.com/articles/what-the-nurses-see-bronx-hospital-reels-as-coronavirus-swamps-new-york-11585702641 …

Aside from contradicting yourself in the first sentence, the purpose of my piece was to look back to Jan 2020 and the very strong possibility that NYCs outbreak largely originated in Queens due to Chinese residents/travelers returning from China. And DeBlasio/Cuomo negligence.

I have contradicted nothing. My argument is that you're confusing "this is the worst" with "this is most of the problem," when it's not. And again: if you concede that you're only talking about January/early Feb origins, a fairer point. Neither your article nor Tweet said that.

You just said in a tweet it was the worst. Yes of course other areas have been hit as the virus spread—are you not curious about how many victims are Chinese who brought it here and spread it among the population? It’s a big missing data point
