Congrats to everyone who pounded the table the past four years for "good people should refuse to work for the Trump Administration."https://twitter.com/RadioFreeTom/status/1243207018472751112 …

Look,
@RadioFreeTom & I won't see eye to eye on this, but my question is simple: would we be better off with more good, competent people pursuing jobs in this Administration? If the answer is yes, then scolding people to avoid those jobs is bad advice.Show this thread -
My longstanding view is that the country benefits from more good public servants no matter who is president. The executive branch's responsibilities go far beyond the president. They can't just be turned off for 4 years.

Couldn't agree more. I remember all the wailing from liberals each time someone was floated to join his cabinet. If Trump is a problem, all the more reason we need to have good people around him to hopefully steer him to better decisions.

The premise is that it is worth an economic or even health calamity to elect a Democrat in 2020, even a Democrat quickly losing his mental faculties.

The only thing that has gone away during the Trump term has been the good people. He fires anyone with a backbone, and he disdains expertise. Proof: when asked if he would consider consulting ANY of the living past presidents...what did he say? Proof: the entire State Dept.

The corollary is that stigmatizing that work resulted in a suboptimal team that by design would have a greater chance of failing. All good & well if it simply translates into some random policy failures but for the situation we're in now, some ownership of this would be welcome.

Terrible argument to blame people from staying away from a horrible administration. No one should be forced to feel bad avoiding this dumpster fire.

"I could do a better job than others for the American people, but I would feel bad, so I'll just let the job go undone or worse." That's just not good thinking.
