Not sure we can say that the Democratic establishment hurt him by doing this. Changing to a primary from a caucus allowed more people to take part in the process. Yes, this resulted in more people that do not favor Bernie, but I think that is on him, not the establishment.

Let me fix that - One key way that the Dems made the nom process more democratic and accessible was by turning low-turnout caucus states into primary states, which had the side effect of hurting candidates like Sanders who have the ground organization to over-perform in caucuses.

Wasn't the Sanders team on board with all the DNC measures that encouraged the transition of state caucuses to primaries?
