This is very reductionist. I did not vote for Trump in '16, campaigned against a marriage amendment in MN, support gay marriage but find the idea of forcing the secular view onto religious folks abhorrent. I'm plan to vote for Trump. I'm not religious, I'm just not for tyranny.
It looks like there are a lot of reasons for a lot of people who didn’t vote for Trump in 2016 to vote for him in 2020. If he wins the popular vote, he’s going to flip states like CO who will likely be majority Democrat, whose electoral votes now go to the w/ popular vote. .
Holy moly. This articulates EXACTLY why, not only Christian conservatives, but even many Democrats are voting for Trump. "Bed of nails" great analogy
Wow! That article is nuts! Is that really what is going on in Trump voters’ minds?
Serious question. Why is it nuts?
“Last line of defense...?” What would God do without Trump and his judges... the Kingdom doesn’t need Trump. Christians convincing themselves they do means the real battle is already lost...
This is horrific & a good summary of the rationalization of white conservative evangelicals for their activism. Their number 1 priority is stopping illegal immigration. That doesn't fit the rationalization, so Mr. Shouty Baseball ignores it.
So you really don’t want to understand these voters. You’d rather just accuse them of all having the same nefarious motivation that fits your pre-existing conclusion. Thanks for contributing to the discussion.
Shift from neverTrump 2016 to Trump 2020 is best explained psychologically, not in terms of political strategy. Second Trump term takes on diminishing returns in policy/courts, increasing returns in terms of party transformation and political breakdown.
