3. The last thing Republican Senators want is to sign onto a deal with Democrats that they will wave around for months asking for further proceedings. Which means GOP signatures on a censure resolution would likely require some concessions from Ds, too - ones they won't swallow.

4. Censure was the most sensible resolution here: everybody agrees that Trump's term is running down & there aren't the votes to remove, Ds get a bipartisan black mark on his record that they can take to the trail, Rs get closure & avoid an impeachment process. Too late now.

5. Any lawyer knows you don't get far settling a case on the eve of the jury verdict you're about to lose. That's what Democratic proposals for censure would be now.

Hey Dan how do you think that “rigged” argument holds up considering McConnell’s pre-trial statement about coordination and the new reporting that he in fact carried thru with it during the trial, coaching the lawyers how to tailor their arguments to his fellow R jurors at risk?
