Important point in this thread. Your vote is a binary choice *and* a statement of your values, & you sometimes have to compromise one when they conflict. But don't tell other people to apply a standard to their vote that you won't apply to your own.https://twitter.com/neontaster/status/1223257354273161216 …

Holding your nose and voting for someone you have problems with because the alternative scares you more is a reality of a polarized 2 party system. But if that's your thought-process, how dare you talk down to people in the same predicament just because their choice is different?

Either way, own the consequences of your choice.

I never get the one vote idea. If there a 100,000 who feel that and do not or do choose to vote then their vote can swing a state. Every vote is truly important.

Your vote is not a binary choice but the outcome of an election almost certainly is.

Sometimes a vote is merely strategic. You have two choices, both are bad, both will do harm to your life, your property, and your values, but you also judge that one of them will do far more harm and be much less persuadable to your point of view than the other.

By '08, I had grown tired of the 'lesser of two evils' options. I'll never vote against someone again. I find someone I can actually support and vote FOR them, not as a protest against the other guy.

Meh. Most states' POTUS results are a foregone conclusion. No point in getting hair-splitty unless one lives in a contested state.

Institutional massive corruption far outweighs disagreeing whether there should be greater or less government control. Leveling those two issues is the cornerstone of bulllshit conservative thought.

I catch a lot of hell because I have refused to vote in previous elections. If I find both candidates to be untenable, I reserve the right not to support either, but somehow that makes me a bad person for choosing to use my political will responsibly, in line with my values.

I came to the same conclusion in 2016 & the 2017 AL Senate special election.
